Hi! You're probably here because of my guitar YouTube videos.

Be sure to check out my YouTube PRO Audio sound book. Lots of useful info in there if you want to sound better when recording guitar videos for YouTube (or any video sharing web site).

FAQ

  • How do you spell Squier?
S-Q-U-I-E-R and not Squire. Pay attention to the last two letters. It's always been Squier, like Fender.
  • What year is my Squier?
    1989.
  • Was your Squier bought new?
Yes. It's my first guitar and has been with me since purchased new all those years ago.
  • Squier II?
Yes, it's a Squier II. That's not a misprint. In the late 1980s/early 1990s there was such as thing as the Squier II model.
  • Where was your Squier made?
    Korea.
  • What's your amp?
    I don't use an amp.

    DigiTech GSP 1101.
  • What strings do you use?
    Dean Markley NickelSteel LT

    I started playing in either 1989 or 1990 (I don't remember exactly).
  • Do you play any other instruments?
I play keyboards and have been since I was six years old. I currently own an Ensoniq SQ-1+ and an Alesis Fusion 6HD.

I also own a 1993 Fender USA Standard Stratocaster, Schecter C-1 Classic, Guild Burnside "The Lance", Takamine EG-330C and a Yamaha electric bass guitar.
  • Where do you get your drum loops from?
Various resources on the internet. I pick up free drum loops wherever I find them.

Not yet. It's on my to-do list. :-)

It says this at the top of this web page, Rich Menga.

    Yes.

    Yes.

    Tampa, Florida.

Things people say/accuse me of that are always wrong

"There's no way your Squier is stock."

It is 100% stock. Nothing has ever been changed on the guitar. Original hardware, original pickups, original machine heads, original everything.

"It's that DigiTech GSP 1101 that makes you sound good."

Wrong. There is no piece of hardware or software that will magically make you sound better by the flip of a button. I use a signal effects processor strictly for the fact it is more convenient than foot pedals.

"You must have a custom amp!"

Wrong. I don't use an amp. In fact I don't even own one. It's nothing but the guitar, the DigiTech and a tiny (and cheap) 4-channel mixer.

Do you truly believe the Squier is "crap"?

Obviously not. You're probably referring to this video, saw the title, heard what was played, then got totally confused. That's because you didn't get the joke. I even put up an explanation video about that.
